About The Butcher

Scott Grieve

Our owner and namesake, Scott Grieve, has a culinary background that spans over four decades. As a foodie who says he “knows how to cut steaks and cook them well,” Scott purveys fine meats and provisions with a passion for cooking, entertaining, and personal service. Starting his career in restaurant kitchens at the age of 15, The Butcher worked his way into a professional career and graduated from The New England Culinary Institute.

Scott continued to hone his skills by working in restaurants and hotels around the world, from New York City to Napa Valley, and even Hong Kong, to name a few. As a perpetual student of culinary excellence, he has now evolved his mission into educating others about premium-sourced proteins, exciting new provisions, fine wines, craft beers, and the art of preparing and sharing great food with family and friends.

With The Butcher on Whitlock, Scott integrates his knowledge and experience with a personal approach that is accessible, personal, and friendly. His shop is driven by a genuine desire to source the finest quality products and deliver an exceptional customer experience rather than an elitist perspective to the culinary arts.

Scott and his wife, Nancy, reside in the historic district of Marietta where they live, work and play in the community they love.
